higher your likelihood of developing breast cancer. 71% of breast cancers are in women with dense breasts. Because both dense tissue and cancer appear white on a mammogram, cancer can &#8216;hide&#8217; in your dense breast tissue. The levels of density are often recorded in your mammogram report using letters, words, or both.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>In your mammogram report, look for the following words and\/or letters:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #f8069b;\"><strong>A. Fatty Breast Density<\/strong><\/span> \u2014 indicates that the breasts are almost entirely composed of fat.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #f8069b;\"><strong>B. Scattered Breast Density or Scattered Fibroglandular Density<\/strong><\/span> \u2014 indicates scattered areas of density, but the majority of breast tissue is not dense.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #f8069b;\"><strong>C. Heterogeneously Dense<\/strong><\/span> \u2014 indicates some areas of non-dense tissue, but the majority of the breast tissue is dense.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #f8069b;\"><strong>D. Extremely Dense<\/strong><\/span> \u2014 indicates that nearly all of the breast tissue is dense.<\/p>\n<p>In general, women with breasts classified as <strong>heterogeneously dense (C)<\/strong> or <strong>extremely dense (D)<\/strong> are considered to have dense breasts.<\/p>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text --><!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_pdyd436   \" data-lazy=\"1\">\n        <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Look carefully for any radiologists recommendations.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Some radiologists may recommend additional screening due to breast density. It is against the law for radiologists to prescribe additional imaging. The levels of density are often recorded in your mammogram report using letters, words, or both.<\/p> <h4><strong>In your mammogram report, look for the following words and\/or letters:<\/strong><\/h4> <p><strong>A. Fatty Breast Density<\/strong> \u2014 indicates that the breasts are almost entirely composed of fat.<\/p> <p><strong>B. Scattered Breast Density or Scattered Fibroglandular Density<\/strong> \u2014 indicates scattered areas of density, but the majority of breast tissue is not dense.<\/p> <p><strong>C. Heterogeneously Dense<\/strong> \u2014 indicates some areas of non-dense tissue, but the majority of the breast tissue is dense.<\/p> <p><strong>D. Extremely Dense<\/strong> \u2014 indicates that nearly all of the breast tissue is dense.<\/p> <p>In general, women with breasts classified as <strong>heterogeneously dense (C)<\/strong> or <strong>extremely dense (D)<\/strong> are considered to have dense breasts.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Look carefully for any radiologists recommendations.<\/h4> <p style=\"text-align: center;\">Some radiologists may recommend additional screening due to breast density. It is against the law for radiologists to prescribe additional imaging.
